Q: What times do the walks start?
A: I recommend starting morning walks at 10 am, that way we finish in time for lunch, or 1.30pm for the afternoon walk, that way we end before tea. Please note that the afternoon times may change in the winter months when it gets dark earlier in the day.
Q: How long does each walk take?
A: Each walk takes anything between 2 hours and 3 hours but my time is your time so I can make it a little less or a little more.
Q: How far do we walk for each walk?
A: We walk within the Square Mile, weaving in and out of streets and alleyways at a pace and distance that is comfortable for you.
Q:Are walks suitable for all ages?
A:I would recommend a starting age of 12 years old with no upper age limit!
Q: Do I need to wear/bring anything special?
A: Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Best to be prepared for all kinds of weather! A small umbrella or a hat, come rain or come shine, is always useful.
Q: Can we stop for breaks?
A: It can been thirsty work walking around the City, so anytime you need to stop for refreshment, just ask.
Q: Are there any extra charges?
A: There may be an occasional stop on a walk where you can go in and have a look around. If there is a charge for entry, I will always offer you the option of going in and the entry fee will be at your cost. Any of your travel charges or refreshments, including lunch, are at your expense.
Q: How do we pay?
A: My preferred method of payment is cash, given before we set off for the walk but I also accept UK cheques.
Q: What happens if it rains or snows?
A: Regular London rain doesn’t stop us, but torrential rain will usually necessitate cancellation. Snow is a difficult one. We seem to have more and more snowy days each year. This can mainly effect travel arrangements. I would contact you the day before to confirm or cancel.
Q: Where do we meet?
A: We can either meet outside a designated underground station or I can meet you at your hotel or a pre arranged spot.
Q: Where does the walk end?
A: The walk will end near to public transport and I can direct you on your way or find the best way to get you to your next destination.
Q: How many people can you take?
A: I am equally happy guiding one person as I am 15.
Q: Does the rate for the walk include meals?
A: The cost of all meals and refreshments are at your expense.
Q: Does the rate include entry to museums?
A: Most Museums in the City have free entry. St Paul’s Cathedral and The Tower of London charge for entry.
Q: Does the rate include travel costs?
A: The rates don’t include your travel costs. I can advise on the most economic means of transport on the day.
Q: Is there a cancellation fee?
A: There is no cancelation fee but 24 hour notice of cancellation is preferred.
Q: What if we are delayed?
A: If you get delayed on the day of the walk, just telephone my mobile or send an email message and I will wait for you within reason.
